What do skiing, DIY, cooking, running, crafting and snowmobiling have in common? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Which is why I can’t figure out why I enjoy all of them. Want to get some freshies in the pow pow? Need the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe? Can’t figure out how to refinish an old piece of furniture? Need someone to train for a ½ marathon with? Call me.
I’m at an interesting stage in my life: torn between this internal desire/instinct to excel in all things domesticated (cooking, cleaning, organizing, decorating, DIY, crafting and (dare I say) babies)….and the allure of recreational activities like hiking, rafting, backpacking, skiing and running. To sum it up, I’m torn between being Martha Stewart or an Athleta model. Totally kidding on the model part – but those girls look like they’re doing a lot of cool shit while looking super cute. I like it.
So…can I have make my cake and eat it too?
I’m not sure. But I’m trying to. You’ll read a little bit about everything on this blog. I’m doing my best to juggle a full-time career as a Project Manager, with taking advantage of living in Montana, with trying to make a house a home. I’m not an expert in any of them, but I have a lot of fun trying and learning from my mistakes. And babies you say? Well…I certainly hope so. Although I may need to change the name of my blog by the time he/she is old enough to read.
Update! The blog-name-change countdown has apparently started. I’m pregnant! Due in January of 2012. I don’t intend for this to turn into a baby-blog, but no promises. I find I’m best at blogging when I’m upfront and honest about what’s happening in-the-now (whether it be an adventure, a project, a recipe)….I’m down with the real-time blogging. So of course this new addition is weighing heavily (and happily) on my mind these days. I have every intention of keeping up with my normal activities during and after pregnancy, but don’t pretend to be oblivious to the side-eyes and smirks on mommies when I say stuff like that. I have no idea what my life will be like six months from now…but one thing is for sure: you’ll know about it.

I can completely relate to that dual desire of wanting to be Martha Stewart-like but then at the same time get out into the big world and have adventure… love the blog! Congrats on the upcoming babe!
